Our First Full Week of First Grade

We worked together with our table teams to put together number puzzles in math.

For social studies we watched a video about community rules/laws and school rules and discussed why we have them. Then we read David Goes to School and made a T-Chart of things from the book you should and should not do at school. Afterwards we made David's face and attached a word bubble with a thing we should do or a class rule we should follow.

At the end of the week we celebrated our second birthday of the year. Happy Birthday Lylly!

Our First 2 Days in First Grade

Here is our first hallway art display this year. It says "A Great New Line Up."

On the 19th we had the first assembly of the year. The rodeo queen and 4 rodeo clowns came to tell us about the rodeo.

Friday was also our first classroom birthday party of the year. Happy Birthday Eileen!

We learned to walk down the middle blue line and where to go for fire and tornado drills.

The best thing of all was learning about our new classmates by doing  a "Find Someone Who" activity.

The New School Year Has Begun!

Students came with their parents to Open House to meet the teacher and unpack supplies before the first day of school.

It was so much fun to meet the families of my new students!

Families had a yellow check sheet of tasks to complete for the evening.

Families worked together to complete the sheet.
They also worked to unpack and put away the new supplies.

Students couldn't wait to come back the next morning and begin their first grade year.

We reviewed how to walk in the hallway and we learned where our new class fire exits and tornado shelters are located.

We got to learn more about our classmates and found out we have some things in common.

We are now officially First Graders in room 1B, Yipee!
